Training Programme On Water Management For Local Government And Relevant NGO's

ACF within project ‘’ Enhance Resilience and Maintain Livelihoods of Palestinian Food Insecure Households Affected by The Conflicts, Palestine Project’’ aims to Conduct training for stakeholders involved in water management (PWA, CMWU, municipalities, Ministry of Agriculture, Environmental quality authority and Ministry of Health) on non-conventional rainwater harvesting systems planning and safe storage, the reuse of treated wastewater/greywater for irrigation and the potential environmental and health risk. The efficient use of water in irrigation to optimize the irrigation water use efficiency (production vs. irrigation water quantity) and the selection of proper irrigation system to cope with quality of the treated effluent to prevent soil from SAR and salinity hazard

ENFRA RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Develop the training material, module, pre/post - tests.
  2. Conduct the training course for participants. The Following Topics Delivered;
  • Non- conventional storm water harvesting Storm Water Hydrology in Gaza (Intensity, Duration, Etc.) and Storm water harvesting methods (green houses, buildings and large scale)
  • Wastewater treatment system; Wastewater Characteristics in the Gaza Strip Wastewater Treatment Technologies (decentralized and centralized systems) Climate change effect on wastewater treatment)
  • Reuse of treated effluent, Soil aspects and response to saline water reuse (EC, SAR,……..etc) and Irrigation water requirements (CropWat Model) and Quality of irrigation water (Plant salinity tolerant, guidelines and standards..
  1. Field Visit to NGEST wastewater treatment plant and the infiltration basins and closing ceremony.

Consolidate, revise, and submit to program the final version of the training framework, teaching guides, and final report
